Create your own Adventure.

If you’re tired of enduring traffic jams and sprawling streets filled with suits and skyscrapers, then The Granary is the perfect escape for you. Breathe in a bit of fresh country air and create an adventure filled with meaningful Tasmanian encounters with producers, makers, and passionate tourism providers (like us!).

+ On your doorstep

Once you arrive at The Granary you may not want to leave in which case we've formulated a few 'on property' activities for you to do at your leisure.

River

The Macquarie River is located at the bottom of our garden, a short 10 minute walk from The Granary. A picnic table and chairs are there for you to enjoy a picnic or evening drinks. In the cooler months a fire pit is set up at our ruins or the river for guests to enjoy.

Walks

Quite often I get carried away on the lawnmower and like to mow paths that meander through some of our nearby paddocks. We encourage guests to explore the property as there are so many beautiful vistas to see. Fiona will be very happy to show you the way when you arrive.

Garden Tours

As Richmond Hill is our private home, garden tours are reserved for our Granary guests, we do not open the garden to the public. A complimentary garden tour with Fiona around the main homestead garden is available to all our guests.

Quiet time

With eight sofas to choose from, sometimes the nicest thing to do is to sit back, relax and soak in the serenity that this country escape has become renowned for. Superbly private with glorious views from every window it is easy to imagine you are somewhere in the south of France.

You will be spoilt for choice when choosing to dine out in and around The Granary. From award-winning A La Carte menus to casual riverside dining, there is something to suit all tastes. Here’s a list of our favourites.
